Madhya Pradesh cabinet in its meeting took several important decisions, some of them with an eye on the forthcoming state assembly elections.

Madhya Pradesh cabinet in its meeting on Wednesday took several important decisions, some of them with an eye on the forthcoming state assembly elections.

Among the major decisions taken at the meeting chaired by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are launch of Chief Minister’s Young Engineer Contractor Scheme, continuation of the scheme to provide interest-free loans to farmers, exempting pulses brought from other states from Mandi Tax, contributory pension scheme for gram panchayat secretaries, creating a new tehsil Badauni in Datia district, allotment of 18,500 hectare land to NTPC Limited in Narsinghpur district to set up a thermal power project and providing security against loans availed by Madhya Pradesh Finance Cooperation firm HUDCO, commercial banks and private placement bonds.


Under the scheme, 500 young engineers holding degrees in civil and electrical engineering will be imparted 6-months internship. Public works department has been appointed nodal department for the scheme. In the selection process, reservation quota prescribed by the state government under Sewa Bharti Niyam for SC, ST and women will be adhered to.

R5,000/ month honorarium will be given to graduate engineers during the training period and additional R2,000/ month during field training. Engineers trained under the scheme will be eligible to secure loan up to R25 lakh.


The cabinet approved amendment in Rule 3 of Madhya Pradesh Gaud Khanij Niyam 1966. Now, permission to mine minor minerals will be granted to Water Users Associations from government land allotted to them. This will ensure expansion of irrigation facility in the state. The amendment has been made for empowering executive engineers of government departments to sanction mining licence of these minerals.


The cabinet decided to continue its scheme to provide short-term interest-free loans to farmers through cooperative banks in year 2013-14. It was also decided to set due date for repayment of loans distributed for Kharif season as March 28, 2014 instead of March 15.

The cabinet decided to accord tehsil status to revenue inspector circle Badauniin Datia district.

The new tehsil will have 36 patwari halkas and 78 villages.
