Film: BA Pass
Cast: Shilpa Shukla (last seen in Bhindi Baazaar Inc.; 2011), Shadab Kamal (last seen in Chittagong; 2012), Dibyendu Bhattacharya (last seen in Lootera) and Geeta Aggarwal Sharma (last seen in Chillar Party; 2011)
Storyline: Orphaned, Mukesh moves into his aunt’s house while in finishing college, until he meets Sarika aunty. She seduces him and teaches him the ropes of the act. Before he knows it, he’s a male prostitute. Then something goes wrong, Sarika’s dark side surfaces and Mukesh’s life goes haywire.
Director: Ajay Bahl (Debut film) He has been credited as the director, producer and cinematographer on his debut project.
Music: Alokananda Dasgupta
There has been no buzz about the music. Alokananda has, in the past, composed for the Marathi movie, Shala (2011). It won accolades at the 59th National Film Awards.

Shilpa Shukla has been promoting the film by making headline-worthy statements like, “Sex is overrated” and “I sought permission from my
parents” before signing this film. A rumour about a 22-minute sex scene in the movie also did the rounds, but it proved incorrect, when the director said, “There are a lot of bed scenes in the film but of short duration (sic)”.

Marketing/hype: Bollywood’s unofficial spokesperson Mahesh Bhatt supported the movie, calling it “path-breaking” and giving Ajay Bahl the title of a “superstar director”.

Our assessment
The short story that this film is based on (The Railway Aunty by Mohan Sikka) is available online for free. Watching the film, unfortunately, won’t be a free experience — it will consume a lot more time, money and energy. Let’s just hope it’s not entirely based on the short story.
