Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who recently won acclaim for his role as Narottam Mishra in the much-loved comedy film Bareilly Ki Barfi, is all set to entertain the audiences with yet another film, Newton, which stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead. While he made people laugh as Narottam, his character in Newton has shades of grey. Asked which genre he enjoys doing more, he says, “My next film will be Fukrey Returns, which is an out and out comedy. Agar main comedy hi lagatar karta rahoon, toh boring ho jaata hai. We should taste everything — namkeen ke baad meetha and vice-versa is important. In Newton, my character has a sense of humour as well, after all the film is a black comedy.” Pankaj has earlier played intense roles in films such as Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012) and Gurgaon (2017).

Talking about the first thing he sees before giving his nod to a project, he says,“Story is the prime concern. At the same time, what’s also important is ki filmmaker ka maqsad kya hai. Mujhe lagta hai ki cinema is not just a medium of entertainment, but we should also make something which makes the audiences think.”

Working with Rajkummar again after Bareilly... Pankaj is all praises for the 33-year old. “He’s brilliant. Acting basically give and take hota hai, jaise badminton court mein opposite player ka bhi role is equally important. I am sure Rajkummar will give you the same answer if you ask him this.”
