Actor Bobby Deol clarifies that even though he had spoken about director Imtiaz Ali making two films with other people, in which he was originally slated to star, there’s no bad blood.

Actor Bobby Deol, who has made a big comeback with Race 3, also has biggies such as Housefull 4 and Yamla Pagla Deewana 3 in his kitty.

However, the last time he made news was when he talked about how he was to star in Imtiaz Ali’s films, Jab We Met (2007) and Highway (2014), but things didn’t work out. In the case of Jab We Met, Bobby said that he had reached out to Imtiaz, and said that he wanted to work with him, and also suggested his name to the producers. However, Imtiaz later made the film with Kareena Kapoor Khan and her then boyfriend Shahid Kapoor. It was a huge hit. Bobby also said that he was to do Highway, but then “Imtiaz did his own thing”.

Asked about the equation between the two of them today, Bobby says that too much was read into his comments last year. The actor says, “Arre, [Imtiaz] is a buddy; I just bumped into him. I don’t have any regrets, or anguish. Just that when I gave my interview [last year], I spoke about what had happened in my life. People had started thinking that I was choosing the wrong things, even though I was on the right track.”

Bobby adds, “I was trying to do the right things — just that the people I was trying to do them with, let me down. That happens with everybody. I wish Imtiaz the best. He’s a sweetheart. Even he was starting out in his career, and [he, too] had to make choices.”
