Veteran actor Danny Denzongpa, who has essayed numerous roles in Bollywood, and has been on a sabbatical since 2009, will reportedly be seen on the big screen again.
According to sources, the 65-year-old, who was last seen on the big screen in Acid Factory (2009), will be seen playing a negative role in filmmaker Karan Malhotra’s Shuddhi, which also stars actor Hrithik Roshan.
Reports also indicate that he might also be seen in Anthony D'Souza’s Naam Hai Boss with Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Anand’s Bang Bang.
“Danny has been on a self-imposed exile and has said ‘no’ to every film that has come his way. He has often said he wants to do films that excite him as an actor,” a source was quoted as telling a Mumbai tabloid.
Danny, who is of Sikkimese descent, has had a Bollywood career spanning four decades. He has won acclaim for roles such as Kaancha Cheena in Agneepath (1990), Bhaktawar in Hum (1991), Gurang in China Gate (1998), among others, and has also starred in international projects, the most famous being Seven Years in Tibet with Hollywood actor Brad Pitt.
Danny, who now runs a successful brewery business, got his screen name courtesy actor Jaya Bachchan, his FTII course mate, who thought his original name, Tshering Phintso Denzongpa, was too tough to pronounce.
