John Abraham’s super muscular avatar in Force is an open secret. But when it came to choosing the villain opposite him, makers wanted to find someone equally buff. Enter model turned actor Vidyut Jamwal, who bagged the role after beating around 500 people during auditions.

A trained martial arts fighter, Vidyut is also a trained gymnast. According to sources, it was his knowledge of Kalari, a form of martial arts practiced in Tamil Nadu, which helped him score the role. “Vidyut’s mastery over the martial arts form, which is an amalgamation of Kalari and gymnastics, gave him the flexibility and agility to perform stunts smoothly, since most of the action scenes are physically demanding,” says the source.

Since the villain in the film is as important as the hero, it was difficult for the makers to search find someone to match John, both in terms of looks as well as physique. But the debutant has taken every one by surprise, even managing to score several offers from directors down south after the Force promos released.

Confirms producer Vipul Shah, “We wanted a villain as strong as the hero, and after numerous auditions, we chose Vidyut for the role. To match up to John’s body, he had to work equally hard. He too went through the same strict workout regimen that John had undertaken.”
