Madras Cafe grosses over Rs 24 crore in four days

Despite rave reviews, John Abraham-starrer Madras Cafe had a slow start on Friday, earning Rs 5.23 crore at the ticket windows. The good word of mouth, however, worked for the film and it picked up over the weekend to earn Rs 24.01 crore in 4 days.

A good word of mouth, ensured that the film's business picked up over the weekend adding Rs 7.18 crore on Saturday and further Rs 8.60 crore on Sunday.

Early estimates suggest that the film has grossed Rs 3 crore on Monday - quite a decent collection for a weekday.

Talking about overseas business of the film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#MadrasCafe opened in Sri Lanka. Collected LKR 3,31,446 [Rs 1.61 lacs] on 1 screen. Is expected to expand to more screens in coming days.

He further wrote. ""#MadrasCafe *opng wknd* USA-Canada $ 245,056 [Rs 1.58 cr] ... UAE-GCC AED 12,00,000 [Rs 2.11 cr] ... Australia A$ 42,423 [Rs 24.65 lacs].
