Apart from Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar is probably the only Bollywood actor who is receiving critical and commercial acclaim with most of his films. In fact, it seems like he has found a formula that works every time.
Twinkle Khanna, his wife and producer of his upcoming film Padman, has tweeted the first look of the film and it seems Akshay Kumar is all set to work his charm again.
Padman tells the life story of Tamil Nadu-based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine.
In an interview to PTI, Twinkle had said, “Twinkle says they will be taking some creative liberties to make the film entertaining. When I wrote the book ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’, I fictionalised it. So while making the film also we will be taking some creative liberties. We want to give a message but we want to make it entertaining, otherwise it won’t be interesting to watch. We are working towards it.”
There were reports that the film has run into a financial crisis, but Akshay Kumar resolved the problem by finishing the shoot in just 37 days.
Directed by R Balki, Padman also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in main roles and is scheduled to release in April, 2018.
