Film: Satyagraha
Cast: Amitabh Bachchan (last seen in Department; 2012), Ajay Devgn (last seen in Himmatwala), Kareena Kapoor (last seen in Talaash; 2012), Arjun Rampal (last seen in D-Day), Manoj Bajpayee (last seen in Shootout At Wadala) and Amrita Rao (last seen in Jolly LLB)
Storyline: A group of unusual patriots turns revolutionaries when they decide to take on the system (government). Taking things into their hands, they lead an uprising that slowly gains momentum.

Prakash Jha
(Last directed Chakravyuh; 2012)
Starring Abhay Deol and Arjun Rampal, this film was also a political thriller (no surprises there). Unfortunately, it didn’t create too much buzz at the box office.

Salim-Sulaiman, Indian Ocean, Meet Brothers and Aadesh Shrivastava
Although this soundtrack brings together several talented musicians, it has failed to make an impression.

The film invited the fury of a citizens’ forum in Bhopal after the makers reportedly began constructing a tar road and a makeshift market on the grounds of the historic 19th century Benazir Palace.

Whether it is the repetitive nature of Jha’s movies or just the sheer lack of publicity, the film has created little hype among viewers.

Our assessment
From the director of Gangaajal (2003), Apaharan (2005), Raajneeti (2010), Aarakshan (2011), Chakravyuh (2012) (phew) comes yet another political thriller that yet again focuses on the protagonists’ fight against corruption. Even some of the actors (Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee) are back; for the larger good of we can’t possible imagine what.

For the final verdict, look out for Anupama Chopra’s review tomorrow in the Watch & Listen page of Hindustan Times’ Do! section.
