Chitkara University is the only Indian university shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Asia Awards 2020
Besides this honor, Chitkara University is also the only North Indian University to feature in the top list of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2020, released by Times Higher Education in April 2020.
As a big nod to its impressive line-up of higher education programs, its eco-friendly campus and student-friendly study environment, Chitkara University has been shortlisted as one of the top 8 finalists for ‘Technological Innovation of the Year’ for the world-famous “Times Higher Education Asia Awards 2020”. What makes this news even more special is that Chitkara University is the only Indian University to be included in this line up. With this announcement, Chitkara University joins the league of the most coveted Asian universities.

Times Higher Education Asia Awards are touted as the “Oscars in Higher Education” because it sees the participation of about 150 globally renowned institutions from 30 Asian territories. This is third consecutive year for Chitkara University to bag this honor and stand in the league of top recognitions.
Times Higher Education’s Chief Knowledge Officer, Phil Baty announced the shortlisted universities in 10 categories. He said, “Once again we were delighted that so many universities, from an impressive number of countries and territories, submitted their best and most inspirational stories to us for this year’s THE Awards Asia. We have now whittled down 250 excellent entries to a final 80. We have already excluded many brilliant entries to reach this stage.”
Expressing happiness at this announcement, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Madhu Chitkara said, “This shortlist is the recognition of the flourishing research & innovation eco-system of the University on a global platform. We are proud of the Augmented Virtual Reality (AVR) Lab of the University – a pioneer in the region to make the otherwise unaffordable AVR technology cost-effective and readily available to the masses.”
Dr. Archana Mantri, Vice-Chancellor of the University and the project head of University initiative “AVR Innovations: From Dusk to Dawn”, submitted to the Asia Awards 2020, informed that the lap offers multi-potential AVR and game-based solutions in the areas of military training, K-12, engineering education and neurological studies. Dr. Mantri also explained that the lab had launched many commercial solutions and was using the same to economize the technology for enhanced usage in education and training.
Besides this honor, Chitkara University is also the only North Indian University to feature in the top list of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2020, released by Times Higher Education in April 2020. The THE Impact Rankings are the global Performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
