Filmmaker Chinmoy Kashyap debuts as a singer, shares his journey towards success
Filmmaker Chinmoy Kashyap has added another feather to his cap by debuting as a singer in the recently released song titled Kaccha Sa Rishta.
While it is a known fact that Chinmoy is soon to make his directorial debut, he has pleasantly surprised all with his recent debut as a singer.
Sharing various facets of his successful journey in the world of music, Chinmoy says that music has for long been in his veins.
“My family is into music. My mother is a playback singer in Assam. She has also been an All India Radio Artist. My father is into writing lyrics and dramas. So, music and art are almost in the genes of my family. So, music came to me naturally. Though I have never taken any formal education in music, I have learned to play many instruments since childhood. In fact I never took any formal training for singing,” says Chinmoy.
He notes that the environment at home made him learn the art indirectly. “When my Mom used to do her practice, I used to play the tabla along with her. Also, I used to sing just casually, and everyone slowly started praising me that I sing well and I should practice more. Then I started singing a few Bollywood covers and everyone liked it. Since then there was a plan that I will try to make 1-2 original songs in the future after my career in filmmaking starts. But during this lockdown as the shoot of my film and everything stopped, this plan of the future was advanced,” said Chinmoy.
The song not only marks his debut as a singer, but it is also dedicated to someone special in Chinmoy’s life. He has dedicated the song to his perfect partner, while celebrating the essence of love, laughter and life.
Chinmoy started his career as a professional editor at the age of 15. Owing to his passion and love for filmmaking, Chinmoy decided to switch to the direction at an age of 19, and came to Mumbai to pursue his filmmaking career.
Previously, Chinmoy has worked in numerous television serials and Web series as an assistant director.
