A Gurgaon-based technology startup, Arista Vault has come up with a must needed solution Shuddhi Box, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a known fact that coronavirus has a devastating effect on the entire world.
The spread of the virus is very vast. It requires immediate action to prevent the disease at the community level during the period of latent infection which involves fast-spreading, endangering the health of large numbers of people and creating the chain of infections through Gadgets, Mobile, Currency notes, money, masks cloths and plastic. According to a report, the virus could rest up to 72 hours on a plastic surface, one week on masks, & on glass for 96 hours.
According to W.H.O report, a smartphone is one of the most used gadgets for everyone is most exposed gadget to coronavirus spread. Also, another report states that our Mobile phone is 18 times dirtier than a public washroom, it needs proper cleaning.
The most prone to spreading the virus is our smartphone, along with currency note, watch, specs, pen, earbuds, wearables and masks etc. The virus can spread from these devices through respiratory droplets and close contact as these are frequently used and there is no way to effectively disinfect these crucial items.
For health workers and policemen along with essential service workers, who are our heroes and working on the front foot, it is not possible for them to disinfect their mobile, wallet and money with every frequent use and also to charge mobile in such testing times.
The Solution: Shuddhi Box
The Shuddhi Box is an effective solution to fight the COVID-19 spread and to disinfect Mobile phones, currency notes, wallets, watch, eyewear & masks. It will kill 99.99% of the virus by unique Ultraviolet sterilizer method within 5 minutes, UV-C wavelength 253.7nm. The Shuddhi Box also provides contactless charging for mobile phone. It makes the mobile phone virus-free using the UV-C sterilizing disinfectant technique.
Ms Purvi Roy, Co-founder and CEO, Arista Vault says, “We wanted to create some concrete solution to stop the community spread in India. Since smartphones are the most used devices and active carriers of the virus, we worked on a model to stop the spread of the virus through phones. The Shuddhi Box has been developed under the guidelines of STPI, MeitY’s Electropreneur Park with the help of Dr Ashok Chowdhry, Associate Professor, Hepatologist and Liver Transplant, ILBS Delhi. The technique was so far used in hospitals to sterilize surgical equipment.”
On asking about the availability of Shuddhi Box, Founder Col Krishan Kumar Singh says, “Shuddhi Box will be available in the market in the month of June for immediate use. As of now, we are taking bulk orders from hospitals and Govt. offices. Shuddhi Box will be available from 12th May at www.shuddhibox.com “
How does the Shuddhi Box work?
Insert your smartphone in Shuddhi box, it would take 5 mins for complete disinfectant process and the green light starts blinking as soon as it is clean. You can disinfect your mobile, currency notes and other small gadgets and masks, if you want, within 5 mins with the same procedure. It also provides contactless charging simultaneously.
How does the shuddhi box kill COVID-19 virus?
Researchers design powerful lights with UV-C technology in the range of 253.7nm. According to researchers at CDC USA & Journal for Virological method, the strength of the sun is strong enough to kill viruses like COVID-19 and researchers found that continuous low doses of far ultraviolet C (far-UVC) light can kill airborne flu viruses without harming human tissues.
Shuddhi box is based on the dose principal, the unique formula of the product of irradiation time and irradiation intensity is measured in UV-C dose(mW/cm2)=intensity (mW/cm2)*time (s). Researchers says UV-C technology in the range of 253.7nm. wavelength nanometers (nm), is highly effective at killing bacteria and viruses by destroying the molecular bonds that hold their DNA together. This conventional UV light is routinely used to decontaminate surgical equipment. According to the research team CDC (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention) USA & Journal for Virological method.
