In a career span of 17 years Aditya Ganeshwadem has 100 goals to his credit, has been two times skipper of the World Cup winning team, holds a record of hitting maximum number of goals in a world cup tournament and is the present captain of the open category Roll Ball team.

Roll Ball, which was an idea of a Pune-based physical education teacher Raju Dabhade, got its recognition on the global level with Aditya. Under his captaincy, the Indian squad is currently among the top teams and has won five World Cup tournaments.

He says, “the first time I started practicing this game was in the year 2000. I was a speed skater and Raju sir approached me to try out the game. I liked the concept so much that I instantly agreed to be a part of the game and have been playing it regularly over the years. It feels nice to be known as one of the first players of the game.”

One needs to have enough guts to choose a sport which was not even recognized in India when it came into existence back in the year 2003. But it was Aditya’s dedication towards the game that he not only engaged players from India but also from various parts of the world. The game, today, has more than a thousand players across the globe now.

The Roll Ball World Cup, held every two years, and South Asian Championships see teams from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Great Britain, Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, China, Bangladesh, Guyana, Uganda, Kuwait, Nepal, Kenya and more participating.

He brought laurels to his country by winning Gold in the year 2017 and 2019 and Silver in the ear 2018 during the All India Inter University Championship.

His contributions during the Senior Federation National Championship was remarkable and his efforts helped him bag gold medals in the following years - 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017. He, however, settled for Silver in the year 2018 and 2019.

Aditya bagged gold medals in 2008 and 2009 in the Under-19 Federation championship. He is the only player to score 100 international goals. Not to mention he has 111 World Championship goals and 11 Asian Championship goals to his name. The future looks bright for this iconic sports star.
