Following their decade year old culture of organising qualitative education initiatives, Soundideaz Academy invited Joel Hamilton, who is a Grammy & Latin Grammy Award nominee, to conduct a 1-day workshop on the topic “Transparency is a Myth in Audio - Creative Recording and Production Concepts”. Hamilton is a Brooklyn based record producer, sound engineer & writer, musician & co-owner of Studio G in Brooklyn, New York. Besides successfully producing records by ‘The Black Keys’, ‘Highly Suspect’, ‘BRKN Love’, ‘Matisyahu’, and ‘Lettuce’, Joel has engineered & mixed albums of ‘Norah Jones’ and has worked with other eminent musicians. In the workshop that was held on 1st Feb 2020 at Yash Raj Studios, Andheri (West), Mumbai, many students and professionals got the opportunity to learn topics pertaining to ‘Live Recording of Drums & Guitars’, ‘How to Build a Mix from Scratch’ & above all ‘The techniques of developing good music production skills’, from the master himself.

The class was followed by an interactive Q&A, enthusiastically attended by more than 35 attendees. The students and professionals were happy to have received world-class knowledge and techniques right at their door-step. Joel Hamilton said, “it was a very good experience to share my knowledge with Indian students & professionals. Thanks everyone for making it great. I sincerely have been humbled by the response of the recording community here in India, and appreciate your time and efforts on my behalf. I will be back!”

The vision behind organising the workshop was to introduce world-class artists & technicians to the students and professionals of the audio and music industry in Mumbai. Dr. Pramod Chandorkar, who is a senior sound engineer and also the founder-director of Soundideaz Academy said, “in a competitive world, knowledge sharing and improvising on one’s technical & artistic skill sets is key to one’s career success.” Based on this core thought Soundideaz Academy has been conducting workshops and master classes since its establishment in 2010. In the past, both Indian and International audio and music professionals like Daman Sood, Ram Sampat, Niladri Kumar, Larry Thrasher, John Vegard Schow, Andi Pomato, Shantanu Moitra, Bishwadeep Chatterjee etc. have graced the attending students & professionals with their rich knowledge.

Over the years, due to the supportive learning environment, superior teaching quality & the various education initiatives that are offered by them, Soundideaz Academy was awarded for the “Best Audio Education Program” for the 2nd consecutive time, at the IRAA Awards. The comprehensive sound engineering courses offered by the academy has been pursued by more than 350 students who have successfully graduated till date. The most highlight feature of the academy is that it is the only Audio Academy in India that has SSL4000 G+ Audio Console. Thus, due to its central location in Mumbai’s Andheri West area & having access to seven state-of-the-art operational commercial recording studios of Soundideaz Studio on its premises, the academy is getting good reviews in the student and professional community of the sound & music industry of India.
