A dystopian approach to storytelling is a rather less explored territory but one that can keep you hooked to your screens and Footfairy does just that. A catchy storyline, well-crafted characters, sudden twists, high voltage drama, and an unexplored plot of fetishes and serial killers – the film has succeeded in creating a sense of wonder and helplessness, triggering new emotions and versions of characters.
Ensemble cast with realistic performances
Footfairy not only promises an explosive story but also a dynamic star cast. A refreshing trio with the versatile actor Gulshan Devaiah known for his performance in Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota Hain and Commando 3, our very own ‘Chak De!’ Girl Sagarika Ghatge and the Bandish Bandits fame Kunaal Roy Kapur. In a never played before avatar, Gulshan Devaiah is seen as a CBI officer – definitely a breakthrough performance for him, we’d say. Each of them delivers exceptional performances, bringing out the best of each character in the film.
The fetish conversation
Tsutomu Miyazaki was obsessed with blood, Jerry Brudos with shoes and here we have a serial killer that is obsessed with feet. The concept of fetishes and serial killers is not highly explored in Indian cinema and Footfairy brings international ways of storytelling to television. This weird fetish and the never-ending chase is bound to give you a chilling feel that you will not forget.
Kanishk Varma’s debut
Director of upcoming web series Inside edge 3 has vision for angles and shots that truly intensifies the viewer experience. Being the writer and director, Kanishk remarkably manages to keep the viewer immersed and be a part of the journey. This surely doesn’t feel like his directorial debut, definitely the next big storyteller to watch out for!
