Award winning writer-director Gitanjalli Aran’s passion for making beautiful stories took birth from her grandmother’s captivating storytelling sessions which made her realise the power that stories carried. With age her love for cinema grew and intensified and she decided to make films which would make a difference in the lives of the viewers.
Her passion towards the craft of Film making made her pursue different courses related to Cinema. A university topper with distinction in Mass Communication she graduated from the Patna University. She desired to expose herself to the rich history of cinema for which she joined The New York Film Academy at the King’s College London and finished her diploma in Film Direction. A dedicated writer, she also undertook Screenplay Writing Course at the St. Martin’s College of Art and Design, London. She also trained herself at Subhash Ghai’s Film School, Whistling Woods International as a part of the first Batch of Film Direction group. It was here that she decided to make her award winning film Yeh Khula Aasmaan (The Open Sky). A film that won many International Accolades transformed many lives by motivating them to take up life’s challenges and rise up with a strong belief in themselves. It showcased one of the best performances of veteran actors Raghubir Yadav and Yashpal Sharma.
Her current film Karmaa Meets Kismet which is under post production is yet another tale to await for. It is a thought-provoking tale of love that explores the interconnectedness themes of Karma and Destiny. It aspires to inspire the viewers to have faith in their actions (Karma) and create a life of their dream.
A director who feels nourished by working with senior veteran actors thoroughly enjoyed working with Sanjay Mishra, Farida Jalal,Alka Amin and Vaishnavi MacDonald in the her upcoming movie. She was greatly charged by their passion, dedication and humility.
Gitanjalli is also writing an Arabic musical concept for The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
She firmly stands by her words “Believe in your Dreams and take actions to make them come true”.
