Designer Anju Modi emerged as the show-stealer on the opening day of FDCI India Couture Week 2018, with her Victorian-era-inspired collection. Adding oomph to her ensembles were ornaments created by RK Jewellers South Extension II.
Titled ‘A Maiden’s Prayer’, Modi’s collection was dominated by outfits set in rich and heavy fabrics such as velvet, silk, and brocade. Printed lehengas, large puffed sleeves, and flowy gowns were some of the highlights. What made the outfits even more dreamlike was the use of jewel tones and contrasting designs.
Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, who walked the ramp for Modi, looked every inch royal in a beige lehenga paired with a luxe velvet jacket. She topped off her look with a colonial-era hairstyle and a minimalistic diamond necklace by RK Jewellers South Extension II, which grabbed all the attention.
Indeed, all of the jewellery displayed at the show was designed in line with the Victorian era. Craftsmen were flown in from West Bengal to lend the right level of finesse to the adornments. Through use of fancy cut white diamonds and gemstones like emeralds and rubies, the premium jewellery brand ensured that the antique appeal of the show was kept intact.
Speaking on the occasion, Rohan Sharma, Managing Director, RK Jewellers South Extension-II, said, “We are extremely elated to have joined hands with India Couture Week this year. We feel it is an apt platform for us to showcase our design strength and craftsmanship. With immense joy we and showcased the exclusive vintage jewellery collection specially designed to complement the couture collection of celebrated designer Anju Modi.”
If you are a bride-to-be and can’t wait to make a unique style statement on your wedding, you can always take inspiration from Anju’s Modi’s show. Pick a jewel-toned lehenga similar to that of Kangana’s, and complete your look with jewellery that echoes vintage elegance. So sophisticated! Also, don’t forget to style your hair into a simple yet stunning updo!
