All of us, at some point of time, have wondered how celebrities are like in real life. Thanks to the second edition of ‘Asian Paints Where the Heart is’, a web series launched by the leading paint and décor brand, we can now know so many interesting tidbits about celebrities—with their homes as the backdrop. Join us as we talk designs, life, inspirations, and choices.

Radhika Apte

Step inside Radhika Apte’s house, and you will immediately find yourself bathed in natural light. For that, the 32-year-old actor confesses, is the first thing she looks for when she wakes up. Interestingly, all the doors in her house are painted in different colours—from purple to blue to grey. What is more interesting, however, is the colour that adorns her kitchen walls, which is called ‘blue cover’. Know who she dedicates that colour to? A very dear friend who is called Clover!

Sourav Ganguly

“My home is a place where I want to come back to; it is where I get happiness and peace,” says former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly as he throws open the doors of his house. That, perhaps, is also the reason why he likes to do up the interiors in light colours. “They give out a message of peace,” the 44-year-old emphasizes. He even has a room—built by his late father—where he keeps all his trophies and medals. Check it out!

Sushant Singh Rajput

For all you fans out there, guess what Sushant Singh Rajput always wanted to be before he became an actor? An astronaut! Bearing witness to that is a giant telescope in one corner of his house, and pictures that he took of himself when he visited NASA. Wait, there’s more. The 32-year-old also dabbled with the idea of becoming a pilot at one point of his life. And what is that one colour that is very close to his heart? It’s yellow, which dons his study table.

Monica Dogra

If there is one word that describes actor-cum-musician Monica Dogra’s house, it would be quirky. From hand-painted tiles to unconventional posters, there’s lot that catches the eye. “Your home should be a place where you can completely be whatever you want to be,” says Monica, who is enchanted by Lord Shiva. Now, is there anybody who inspires her to work hard? Yes, it’s Sadhu Amar Bharati, who claims to have had his fist raised in the air since 1973. It is his picture that occupies pride of place in her living room.

Anirudh Ravichander

We all love photo walls in our houses, don’t we? Seems that is also the case with musician Anirudh Ravinchander, who happily provides us a glimpse at pictures that evoke so many memories for him. There’s also a picture of megastar Rajinikanth carrying a baby Anirudh in his arms. One of his favourite spots in his house is a giant wooden swing, which he has dubbed as the ‘hot seat’. “Whenever I have friends over and they are all over the place, I like to take this seat, just to be in control,” jokes the 27-year-old, who shot to fame with his song ‘Why this Kolaveri Di’.

Zoya Akhtar

What are the three colours that define director Zoya Akhtar’s house? They are brown, white, and yellow. Spacious and airy, the place comes alive with lots of stone and wood furnishings. Zoya loves to read, as evident from a room that she is stacked with books. “But, if you take my books and don’t return them to me, you’re not going to be invited to the next dinner party, for sure,” she says rather sternly. Her bedroom, incredibly, overlooks the sea, and has a giant world map plastered on one wall. How cool is that?

Mini Mathur

“We like things which look old and weathered,” says television host-cum-actor Mini Mathur, as she takes us around her sprawling house that she shares with her husband—director Kabir Khan. Mini is fascinated by Greek architecture, which is why her house has Santorini-like seating and ceilings with rounded edges. She even has a room that she paints with every changing season. Because, all spaces must have a colour that reflects how you are feeling at this point of time, she ruminates.

Now that you are sufficiently intrigued, go ahead and check out the full episodes here. And, let these inspire you to redo your house in the way you want it to be. After all, your home is where your heart is.
