What is NPS Vatsalya?

NPS Vatsalya Scheme was introduced by the Government of India and regulated by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). It is a contribution-based, long-term financial security initiative designed exclusively for minors (since birth and up to -18 years) to encourage early financial planning, disciplined savings, financial literacy, and empowerment. A parent or guardian can open an account for their child or ward under the scheme and deposit contributions. The scheme allows partial withdrawals under defined circumstances. On attaining majority (18 years), the subscriber can either continue in NPS Vatsalya till 21 or shift to NPS (All Citizens) or exit as per the norms.
