ITE participation boost India's tourism potential
A new appetite for Indian tourism has been created among the travel trade and potential travellers in Europe and in other regions.
India's participation at the world's biggest tourism fair here has given its growing tourist trade a boost and created a new image for the country, Indian exhibitors at the International Tourism Exchange (ITE) said.
India's presentation as the "Partner Country" at the ITE will contribute to further growth in inbound travel from Europe and other leading international markets in the coming years, Indian exhibitors concluded on the basis of the response received during their five-day promotion campaign at the fair.
Most of the participants said they made bookings for the rest of the year as well as for the next year, received a number of business contacts and established many new contacts with trade visitors from around the world.
Indian exhibitors were also greatly impressed by the interest shown by potential visitors from Germany who thronged the Indian pavilion on Saturday and yesterday, the two days open for the general public.
The presentation, in which over 350 exhibitors and several state governments participated, was quite successful in creating a new image for India in the main tourism generating markets as a new force in global tourism and to create an awareness about the wide-ranging holidaying opportunities the country offers, Sandeep Sinha, manager of Thomas Cook (India) Ltd, Mumbai, said.
