Panjab University's former vice-chancellor RC Sobti today has been appointed as the first vice-chancellor of DAV University at Jalandhar.

The decision was taken at a meeting of DAV College managing committee held under the chairmanship of president Punam Suri in New Delhi.

Suri said the university would mainly focus on research work, besides educating students on ethics and cultural values.

He said a committee comprising five former vice-chancellors has been constituted to chalk out the curriculum and syllabus.
