Five held for immoral trafficking, four girls rescued in Haryana

Kurukshetra police arrested five people on charges of forcing girls into prostitution and rescued four girls. They were identified as Chandram alias Ajay, Rajiv Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Nitin Kumar and Mukhtiar Singh. During interrogation, the police sent the four Punjab-based girls to a one-stop centre after their statement before the magistrate. The accused were booked under relevant sections of the IPC and sent to police or judicial custody.

Depts that harm nature must pay for conservation initiatives: CM

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called for special parks for the state animal and bird of Uttar Pradesh (swamp deer and sarus crane) and for government departments causing damage to the environment to engage in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities for conservation. He also interacted with athletes who won medals at the 26th All India Forest Sports Competition, and urged for tree plantation drives along amrit sarovars.

Hema Malini opens 10-day workshop in Mathura

A ten-day sculpture workshop was inaugurated at the State Museum of Mathura, attended by MP Hema Malini, who praised the statues of Braj saints being created. The workshop is organised by the State Museum and Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad, with sculpture artists from all over the country. Hema Malini expressed her fondness for the art and sculpture at the State Museum, and praised the innovative use of fiber by young artists. Statues of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Vallabhacharya, Meera Bai and Swami Haridas are being created.

Haryana government school lab assistant molests 15-yr-old girl, booked

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a lab assistant in a Fatehabad school. The victim's father filed a complaint with the police who have booked the lab assistant with molestation and POCSO charges. In Jhajjar, two weeks after a 14-year-old girl was abducted and raped by two bike-borne men, the police have failed to arrest the accused. The girl's family has threatened to protest if the accused are not arrested soon.

An official spokesperson said it was informed in the meeting the HSVP’s non-EDC receipts were estimated to be around <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>14,719 crore in the 2023-24 financial year.

HSVP expects to earn 5k crore from auctions of residential, commercial properties

The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) is expected to earn more than ?5,000 crore in 2023-24 through the auction of residential and commercial properties. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave approval for the construction of multi-storeyed car parking and commercial complex in Faridabad and the issuance of allotment letters of ownership rights to 131 shopkeepers in Panchkula. He also directed the setting up of pucca shops in cities where rehri markets are functioning.

In run-up to 2024, SP eyes strong booth-level presence

Samajwadi Party is gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by forming committees for every booth in all 80 constituencies of Uttar Pradesh. The first list of in-charges for 47 constituencies was released on Sunday and Monday. Akhilesh Yadav aims to have a strong booth-level organisational set-up to defeat BJP in the state. In-charges will be responsible for forming the party?s booth committees and some of them might also become the party?s candidates for those seats.

Intercity transport: 18 new buses to join Prayagraj fleet soon

UPSRTC's Prayagraj division has received 18 new BS6 standard buses, with 14 joining the fleet of inter-city buses. The corporation plans to run 8,000 new buses by Mahakumbh-2025, and is asking the government for 2,000 new buses, of which 100 will be permanently allocated to Prayagraj.

Air India starts Amritsar-Gatwick direct flight

Air India launched a direct flight from Amritsar to Gatwick in the UK, with Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia saying the new international connectivity will work as a catalyst for the region's development. The flight, equipped with 18 business and 238 economy class seats, will operate three times a week and Air India will operate 9 other weekly flights from Ahmedabad, Goa, and Kochi. The airline operates 80 flights per week to seven major cities in the UK and Europe, including Milan, Vienna, and Copenhagen.

From Sabarmati jail to Naini central jail: Atiq’s journey spans four states

Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's 1275-km trip from Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat to Naini Central Prison in Prayagraj was completed in 24 hours with a 45-member police team escorting him. Halting 8 times, the convoy passed through Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh before entering Uttar Pradesh. Atiq was anxious throughout the journey, dozing off only at short intervals. On arrival, Naini Jail premises and its vicinity were turned into a fortress. He will be produced before the MP/MLA court in Prayagraj on Tuesday in a case related to the abduction of Umesh Pal.

Gang of thieves busted, four held

Lucknow police busted a gang of thieves and arrested four of its members for stealing from locked houses in the city. Police recovered valuables, jewellery, four-wheelers and other items from their possession. The accused were identified as Parvesh Kumar, Somit Kumar, Amit Rawat and Suresh Rawat, all from Barabanki and working at roadside eateries. They were sent to judicial custody after investigation revealed four separate FIRs were lodged against them.

Nepal puts Amritpal on surveillance list

Nepal has put fugitive radical preacher Amritpal Singh on its surveillance list after India requested it to arrest him if he attempts to flee using an Indian or fake passport. Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has circulated his personal details to all concerned agencies from hotels to airlines. The Union Home Ministry has directed all security agencies to be on high alert in the Nepal-India border area.

Active Covid cases cross 260 mark in U.P.

In the past 10 days, active Covid cases in Uttar Pradesh have tripled to 262, with 78 new cases reported on Sunday, the highest in a single day this year. While the number of active cases is low, health care officials are increasing contact tracing and testing in the districts with the highest number of cases. The total Covid deaths reported in the state is 23,650, with the overall active case ratio at 0.01%.

Aniksha Jaisinghani granted bail in Amruta Fadnavis blackmailing case

Aniksha Jaisinghani, daughter of bookie Anil Jaisinghani, was granted bail on a personal bond of ?50,000 by a special court on Monday in a case of attempting to bribe and blackmail Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' wife. Anil and his cousin Nirmal were also produced and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. Aniksha had allegedly threatened to leak videos and messages to opposition leaders and 'Modiji'.

HC directs CBI court to charge three policemen with murder in 2009 custodial death case

The Bombay High Court has directed the trial court to frame charges of murder and voluntarily causing hurt against three police officials in the custodial death of Altaf Kadir Shaikh on September 11, 2009. The HC judgement was passed on a petition filed by Shaikh's mother, who had claimed that the police officials had badly beaten her son while taking him away for investigation. The HC noted that the special court judge had erred in not charging the police officials with murder.

Dog owners assault man whose brother pushed their pet

Four members of a family were booked for assaulting a man whose brother had pushed their pet dog after it tore off his trousers. The victim and his brother were attacked by the family members after an argument broke out. The family also ransacked the victim's house and broke his furniture.
