Cosmetics MNC to test PU developed ‘chemical-free’ hair dye
A chemical-free hair dye developed by the scientists at Panjab University will be evaluated by a leading cosmetics company which may eventually lead to the technology transfer. A memorandum of agreement has recently been signed between PU and L'Oreal, world's largest cosmetics company. Professor Prince Sharma and Dr Naveen Gupta, from PU's microbiology department have developed a chemical-free health friendly hair dye formulation. The technology is based on enzymes developed from novel bacteria.

Remarks on Brahmins misconstrued, says HDK
Amid a row over Kumaraswamy's remarks that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is trying to project Union minister Pralhad Joshi as the next chief minister of the state, and that he lacks culture and divides society, Janata Dal (Secular) legislature party leader H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday said his statement was misconstrued as he had not blamed all Brahmins. Elections for the 224-member assembly seat are slated to be held this year.

Mystery shrouds death of 55-year-old woman in Ambala
A 55-year-old woman identified as Iqbal Kaur was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Ambala's Barara town, police said on Tuesday. The Kaur, a widow, used to live in Singhpura colony with one of her sons and a grandson. The other son Tajender Singh, who lives with his maternal uncle in Yamunanagar, said that on Saturday, his brother Kulwinder informed him about the demise of their mother.

K’taka Cong forms screening committee for elections
The state unit of Congress has constituted its screening committee for the upcoming Karnataka assembly election, people privy to the matter said on Tuesday. State Congress chief DK Shivakumar, former chief minister Siddaramaiah, AICC in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala, and senior leaders BK Hariprasad, MB Patil, G Parameshwara and AICC secretaries in-charge of the state will be ex officio members of the panel. Elections in Karnataka are likely to be held in April-May.

HC gives BMC four weeks to decide on floating hotel off Marine Drive
The Bombay high court has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner to decide in four weeks on a plea seeking permission to set up a floating hotel two nautical miles off Marine Drive after ascertaining if he had the authority to do so. A division bench of justice S B Shukre and justice M W Chandwani was recently hearing a petition filed by Rashmi Developments Private Limited.

Belapur to Gateway water service flagged off
The water taxi service 'Nayan XI' from Belapur to Gateway of India (GOI) was inaugurated by minister Dadaji Bhuse in the presence of Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre. The services have been launched by MyBoatRide.com in partnership with Nayantara Shipping. Bhuse said fares had been kept low at ?250 and ?350. A water taxi service launched in February from Belapur to Bhau Cha Dhakka was soon closed down.

Panipat DSP’s reader held with ₹1 lakh bribe
A team of the state vigilance bureau's Karnal unit on Tuesday arrested an ASI rank cop, posted as the reader of deputy superintendent of police (DSP, traffic) in Panipat for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.1 lakh in lieu of removing rape section in a dowry case. The accused has been identified as ASI Sushil Kumar, while his purported accomplice, head constable Partiba, the investigating office in the case, remains absconding.

JEE Main January edition: Three from Chandigarh score over 99
At least three students from Chandigarh have scored over 99 in JEE-Main's January edition, whose results were announced by the National Testing Agency on Tuesday. While Raghav Goyal and Moulik Jindal, both students of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, got a 99.9973 NTA?score, Gunveen Gill of Sri Guru Harkrishan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 38, Chandigarh, got 99.98. Twenty candidates from across the country scored perfect 100 in the engineering entrance exam.

Notice to Chandigarh on plea seeking to expedite HC development plan
The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday sought response from the Chandigarh administration among others on a plea seeking to expedite the ?holistic development plan? of the high court. ?From the security and emergency perspective, even a small incident can lead to a rampage, resulting in unimagined loss. The present situation in the parking lot is such that neither an ambulance nor a fire brigade can reach a desired place,? the plea said.

HC asks MHADA if MahaRERA can help in choosing developers for stalled cessed buildings
Mumbai: The Bombay high court recently sought to know from the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority whether the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) could be roped in to identify and appoint private developers for completing stalled redevelopment of cessed buildings due to default on the part of the developers. In light of many such projects languishing, the HC had directed the MHADA and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to respond.

U.P. BJP seeks Rahul’s apology for his remarks against CM Yogi
