A 37-year-old man, who arrived in Delhi from Tanzania, has tested positive for Omicron, making it the first case of the new coronavirus variant in the Capital and the fifth in the country.

The cyclonic storm Mandous will move west-northwest and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast between Puducherry and Sriharikota with a windspeed of 65-75 kmph around midnight of December 9, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted.

A history-sheeter from Andhra Pradesh was shot four times in Bengaluru's K R Puram by a gang of four on Thursday, while a 29-year-old Shivashankar Reddy, who relocated to Bengaluru an year ago to enter the real estate business' driver also got a bullet in the leg. They shot as many as 10 bullets, out of which four hit Reddy and one got his driver. Reddy was injured in the hip, shoulder, back and the leg, while his driver, Ashok Reddy, got injured in the leg as well.

3-yr-old boy found dead in public toilet; autopsy report awaited: Delhi Police

The body of a three-year-old boy was found inside a public toilet at Jhilmil Industrial Area near Vivek Vihar in east Delhi on Thursday, police said. Police said there were no visible injury marks found in the boy's body. The exact cause of death is still being ascertained as the police are awaiting the child's autopsy report. Police officials said they are also looking at the possibility of sexual assault.

Delhi court extends Aaftab Poonawala’s judicial custody by 14 days

A Delhi court on Friday extended by 14 days the judicial custody of 24-year-old Aaftab Poonawala who is accused of killing Poonawala's girlfriend Shraddha Walkar and dismembering her body, a senior police officer said. On November 28, a group of men from a fringe right-wing Hindu outfit, some wielding swords, tried to attack Poonawala outside the Forensic Science Laboratory offices in Rohini where he was taken for a polygraph test.

Goa Police arrests convict, absconding for 15 years, from West Bengal’s Digha

The Goa Police crime branch have arrested a convict, who was on the run for the last 15 years after a prison break incident, from Digha in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district. Then a resident of Panaji, Jackson Dadel, was convicted in 2007 for the murder of Godwin D'Silva in 2005, who he along with one Rudolph Gomes stabbed to death. He broke out of prison in 2007 and has been absconding since.

In a freak incident, a man standing on a platform of West Bengal's Kharagpur railway station was electrocuted after a high-tension live wire fell on him. A video of the incident, captured on the CCTV, was doing rounds on social media platforms. The incident happened on Wednesday. A few moments later, people were seen gathering around him. The incident threw light on the safety hazards at railway stations in India.

Shraddha murder case: Delhi court extends Aaftab Poonawala's custody for 14 days

A Saket Court extended the judicial custody of Aaftab Amin Poonawala for 14 days said officials on Friday. Aaftab is the chief accused in the Shraddha Walkar murder case. Aaftab Amin Poonawalla, the accused of killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, currently lodged in Tihar Jail, was produced before the Saket court here through video conferencing, said the Prison Officials.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said the State government would set up an Innovation Experience Exhibition Museum in Bengaluru chronicling the State's development, journey of innovation, achievers who are responsible for it and their achievements. Speaking after inaugurating the Future Design Summit of the Bengaluru Design District-22 organised by Bengaluru Designers Community here, the Chief Minister said the proposed museum would be of international standard and give all information on innovations.

Karnataka: Woman taken into custody for setting daughters ablaze; one dead

Karnataka police have taken a woman into custody for allegedly setting Jyoti's two children on fire, killing one and severely injuring the other. The woman, identified as Jyoti from Mulabagilu, was motivated by a domestic dispute, news agency ANI reported. After setting her daughters on fire she reportedly tried to kill herself but was stopped by locals. Her six-year-old daughter died and the second daughter is in critical condition.

Rajasthan: Five killed, 50 injured in cooking gas cylinder blast in Jodhpur

Five, including two children, were killed and around 50 people injured after a cooking gas cylinder exploded in a house in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan where guests had gathered for a wedding on Thursday. The house collapsed due to the impact of the blast. Jodhpur divisional commissioner Kailash Chand Meena on Friday said the incident was reported from Bhungra village in Shergarh tehsil, 110 km from Jodhpur.

The college has said the students had 'barged on the stage during the informal' part of the event and that they had violated 'strict guidelines'.
