Vinai Kumar Saxena has recommended action against Indian Administrative Service officer Udit Prakash Rai for allegedly accepting a ₹50 lakh bribe to grant “undue favours” to an executive engineer in two corruption cases, officials in the LG office said on Wednesday. Rai, a 2007-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre, is currently posted as a special secretary in the health and family welfare department of the Delhi government.

Nearly eight months after inspector Amanjot Singh was accused of knowingly disobeying court directions, using intemperate language in court and causing obstructions, the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) on Friday framed charges against him. The trial against Amanjot, who is posted in the operation cell of Chandigarh Police in Sector 26, will begin on January 9, 2023, as he has pleaded not guilty. He turned up soon after, but in a civil dress.
The UT education department will conduct the written examination for recruitment of 158 junior basic teachers (JBTs) on contractual basis under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme on Saturday (December 10). The exam will be conducted at 54 examination centres set up at 36 schools. The department had received over 20,000 applications for the 158 posts. Till Friday, over 16,000 candidates had also downloaded their admit cards.

The CIA-1 unit of Ambala police arrested two men after recovering 3.10 kg opium and ?80,000 drug money from them. They were identified as Amlesh Sahni and Ashok Sahni, both natives of Bihar. ASP Pooja Dabla said the duo was nabbed with the contraband after a raid on Thursday and a case was registered at the Ambala Sadar police station. The accused will be presented before a court on Saturday, a spokesperson said.
