Hate speech, journalists beaten at 'Hindu Mahapanchayat'

Hate slogans were allegedly shouted and seven journalists assaulted at a “Hindu Mahapanchayat” led by controversial seer Yati Narsinghanand in outer Delhi's Burari on Sunday, an event the police said was organised without official clearance. Police said they denied permission for the event, as did the land-owning agency Delhi Development Authority. Hindu Raksha Dal chief Bhupinder Tomar alias Pinki Chaudhary was also present at the Mahapanchayat. The journalists were taken to Mukherjee Nagar police station.

Portals of Badrinath shrine to open on April 27

The portals of Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand will be opened on April 27 at 7.10am while the date for the opening of Kedarnath will be decided on February 18, the head of the shrine's management committee has said. The date for opening Badrinath is declared on Basant Panchami, which was celebrated on Thursday. Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri are collectively called Char Dham. Char Dham shrines remain shut for around six months.

SC to hear AAP plea on Delhi mayor election on Feb 3

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear on Friday a petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party's mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi seeking timely election of mayor and deputy mayor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and a direction to restrain the nominated councillors to the House from exercising their vote. The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP scored a historic victory by sweeping 134 out of 250 wards.

A team of Karnataka Forest Departement successfully caught the leopard on Thursday which had been attacking people in Mysuru district. Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai lauded the forest department for their efforts and also said that the government will form a Leopard Task Force to prevent deaths during human-leopard conflict. He also said that the newly formed Leopard Task Force will help the people living near forest areas to be safe.

Krishna started his career in electoral politics in 1962 by winning the Maddur Assembly seat as an independent by defeating Congress' KV Shankar Gowda.

AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal will be present as the chief guest on the occassion. Earlier, Mann inaugurated 100 Aam Aadmi Clinics on August 15, 2022 on the occasion of Independence Day. Amit Shah to visit Karnataka tomorrow

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be arriving in poll bound Karnataka's Hubballi-Dharwad and Belagavi on January 28 to attend various events and take part in a road show organised by the BJP. The visit to what is known as Kittur-Karnataka (Mumbai-Karnataka) region, where BJP is considerably strong, is the second such by Shah to the state within a month. He will also visit the 'Basavanna Devara matha' there.

Bengaluru saw Republic Day celebrations in several places on Thursday, including the Manekshaw Parade Ground, the controversial Idgah Maidan in Chamarajpet and also in Lalbagh Botanical Garden, which has arranged its annual flower show, among many other places. Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot unfurled the national flag at the Manekshaw Parade Ground, where Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and several of his cabinet colleagues were also present.

Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar on Wednesday, claimed that former Karnataka CM and Congress leader Siddaramaiah is being "misled" to contest from Kolar, and he will lose if contests from that seat in the upcoming state assembly elections. He accused Siddaramaiah of wasting his political career by joining Congress for the "sake of power". Screening of BBC documentary on PM Modi stopped at Panjab University

High drama ensued at the Student Centre (Stu-C) of Panjab University on Wednesday after the Chandigarh unit of National Students Union of India screened, for a brief time, the controversial BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After some part of the documentary was screened, the varsity authorities stopped the NSUI members from continuing it. The NSUI had set up a portable screen at the Student Centre to display the documentary.

This will be the first Republic Day celebrations hosted at the ceremonial boulevard after Rajpath was renamed to 'Kartavya Path' last year.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has decided to give free rides to the invitees to the 74th Republic Day celebrations, scheduled to be held on Thursday at Delhi's Kartavya Path. Attendees will get tickets (coupons) that would allow them to travel for free to two stations near Raisina Hill, and Mandi House station. These coupons will be issued between 4.30 am and 8am. The government has put 32,000 tickets on sale online for the masses.
