The department of town and country planning (DTCP) on Wednesday said it has received structural audit reports of 15 of the 16 projects in which inspections were conducted by four private firms. The DTCP officials said based on the recommendations of the experts, remedial measures will be taken. The DTCP had issued a work order on September 12 to four private firms to conduct a structural audit of 16 condominiums in the city.
The sessions court of Morbi on Wednesday sent managing director of Oreva group, Jaysukh Patel, to jail after his police remand ended. The chief judicial magistrate court of Morbi on February 2 granted remand till Wednesday to Patel who surrendered before the court on January 31. Police have arrested nine people and the government constituted a special investigation team.
In a shocking incident reported from Assam's Hailakandi district, three persons were arrested for allegedly assaulting and urinating on a man over suspicion of him being a thief, police said. The incident took place in Kathlichera area on Monday evening and police detained four persons including two women on Tuesday. Superintendent of police of Hailakandi district, Navaneet Mahanta said they arrested three of them.
The Punjab vigilance bureau on Wednesday arrested a panchayat secretary, Hardyal Singh, posted at Valtoha in Tarn Taran district for amassing wealth more than his known sources of income. A group of around 10 schoolmates and others allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old boy to death when he was returning home in Faridabad's Sector 56. Police said the suspects have been identified and raids are being conducted to nab them. Police said the class 11 student was attacked after he got down from his school bus around 3.30pm on Tuesday and was riding pillion on a friend's motorcycle.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested Hyderabad-based chartered accountant Butchibabu Gorantla, in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. He is understood to be a former chartered accountant of Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter and Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who was earlier questioned by the central agency in connection with the policy.

The Congress on Tuesday set up a screening committee for selecting candidate for the Karnataka assembly polls, appointing senior leader Mohan Prakash as its chairman. The Congress also named Rajya Sabha MP Neeraj Dangi, Mohammad Jawed and Saptagiri Ulaka as members of the screening committee for Karnataka. Karnataka assembly polls are slated in a few months.
Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Sangma has accused the Meghalaya government of signing the border agreement with Assam as per ?the dictate? of the neighbouring state. He claimed Meghalaya's people have not accepted the accord. Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Meghalaya counterpart, Conrad Sangma, signed an agreement in March to resolve the five-decade-old dispute in six of the 12 contested areas along their 884.9 km-long border between the two states.

More than 40.5 lakh people have become members of the Bharatiya Janata Party ever since it launched the 'Vijaya Sankalpa' drive in poll-bound Karnataka, state Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said on Tuesday. Launched by BJP national president J P Nadda on January 21, the campaign went on till February 5 and covered almost all the districts and registered its presence in most of the booths of the state, BJP sources said.
Five more houses developed cracks in Uttarakhand's land subsidence-hit Joshimath, taking the number of such structures to 868, officials said. The number of houses with cracks earlier increased to 863 on January 20 from 849 a day earlier. The officials said five houses developed cracks in the Singh Dhar ward. As many as 156 houses have now developed cracks in Joshimath's worst-hit area. Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti convener Atul Sati said people were being forced to live in houses declared unsafe.
Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is not expanding the Karnataka Cabinet as it is avoiding appointing the son of its senior leader BS Yediyurappa. Karnataka is likely to undergo Assembly elections in April-May 2023 to elect all 224 members of the Legislative Assembly. It is pertinent to mention that the party made a leadership change in July 2018, replacing the then-chief minister BS Yediyurappa with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
A 14-year-old girl working as a domestic help was rescued from a house in Gurugram on Tuesday, police said. A team of one stop crisis center (Sakhi) and the police on Tuesday rescued the girl who was hired through a placement agency in Delhi. Police said that a probe is underway and action will be taken against the family and placement agency once the investigation is completed. The girl was sexually harassed too, said police.
