Multiple vehicle collision kills 5 of family in TN's Cuddalore
Five members of a family, including two children, were killed in a multiple collision involving the car in which they were traveling and a lorry, on the Chennai-Trichy national highway near Veppur in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district, police said on Tuesday. Police, who rushed to the place, retrieved the bodies and sent them to the nearby government hospital for autopsy.

7.49k people arrested under liquor prohibition law in Bihar: Excise minister
In Bihar, a complete ban on liquor was imposed in April 2016. Till February 2023, 7,49,000 people were arrested and 5.63k cases related to violation of the law were registered. The conviction rate is 21.98%. 74 special courts were made functional for fast disposal of cases, 1.54 crore litre of illegal foreign liquor and 96.71 lakh litre of illegal countrymade liquor seized. Awareness programmes, such as nukkad nataks and posters, have helped in educating people about the positives of prohibition of alcohol. 99% of respondents in a survey endorsed in favour of prohibition.

Amit Shah to visit K'taka tomorrow ahead of assembly polls
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Karnataka on Friday to attend Regional Conference on Drug Trafficking and National Security for Southern States/UTs and lay foundation stone of Sehkar Samrudhi Soudh. He will also inaugurate various development works and unveil statues of Kempegowda and Basaveshwara. PM Modi will visit the poll-bound state on March 25.

2015 Kotkapura firing case: Badals submit bail bonds in Faridkot court
Former CM Parkash Singh Badal and SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal submitted ?5 lakh bail bonds in the 2015 Kotkapura firing case, which were accepted by the Faridkot court. The court supplied copies of the chargesheet to the accused. Sukhbir had earlier been granted anticipatory bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The 7,000-page chargesheet described Sukhbir and former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini as "masterminds of the conspiracy".

Virendraa Sachdeva appointed as Delhi’s new BJP state chief
The BJP has appointed Virendraa Sachdeva as the new president of its Delhi unit, a year before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Mobile internet services to remain suspended in 3 Punjab districts till Friday
Punjab government has extended mobile internet and SMS services suspension in Tarn Taran and Ferozepur districts till Friday noon, while lifting the curbs in Moga, Sangrur and Amritsar. Rohtas temple head priest killed, eyes gouged out: Police
90-year-old head priest of a temple found in a pool of blood in Rohtas district with eyes gouged out and body mutilated, died before he could be rushed to hospital. Villagers found him lying unconscious and took him to the local primary health centre where he was declared dead. A murder case has been registered and police are conducting a thorough investigation.

5 pilgrims crushed to death by bus in Uttarakhand’s Champawat
Five pilgrims, including three women, were killed and seven injured after being crushed by a bus in Thuligarh village, Uttarakhand. They were returning from a Maa Purnagiri fair near the Indo-Nepal border. The deceased and injured were from Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief and advised the hospital to provide the best possible treatment.

BJP leader CP Joshi appointed as Rajasthan’s new party president
The BJP appointed Chittorgarh MP Chandra Prakash Joshi as the new state president of Rajasthan, replacing Satish Poonia. Joshi (47) had won Lok Sabha elections twice from Chittorgarh in 2014 and 2019 and is known close to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla. 2 arrested for getting drunk, causing commotion on Mumbai-Dubai flight
Two passengers were arrested at Mumbai airport on Wednesday for allegedly causing a commotion on board a flight from Dubai, after drinking alcohol bought before boarding. The men ignored warnings, talked and laughed loudly, and abused crew members and other passengers. They were booked under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code and the International Airports Authority Act.

Koppal student Harsha S received a 'Nirma' detergent bar instead of the iPhone he ordered from Flipkart. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Koppal has ordered Flipkart and its retailer to pay Rs 25,000 as compensation for deficiency in service, unfair trade practice and causing mental agony and physical harassment to the consumer. They must also refund the cost of the phone, Rs 48,999, all within eight weeks.
