45-year-old man dies in fire in Wagle Estate
Chief fire officer Girish Zalake said the cause of the fire is yet to be determined and an investigation is underway
THANE: A 45-year-old man died after a fire broke out in a residential building at Wagle Estate in Thane on Wednesday night.

According to the Disaster Management Control Room of the Wagle Fire Station, the incident occurred around 9:45 pm in Shantinagar, Wagle Estate. On receiving information, teams from the Thane Fire Brigade and MahaVitaran (MSEDCL) rushed to the spot and doused the fire by 10:10 pm. The flat’s owner, Sachin Nikam, who was in the house when the fire occurred, sustained severe burns and was rushed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, where he was declared dead.

Yasin Tadvi, head of the Disaster Management Cell, TMC, said, “Preliminary reports indicate that electrical wiring, a ceiling fan, mattresses, and other household items were gutted in the fire.”
