On CCTV camera, schoolboy bitten by pet dog in Greater Noida housing society

In yet another dog bite incident, a schoolboy was attacked by a pet dog inside the elevator of a housing society in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida on Tuesday. The incident, at La residential complex in Greater Noida, was caught on a CCTV camera and the video is now being widely shared on social media. Inside the elevator, a man and his pet dog joined them. Later, it shows the dog biting the child's hand.

The 73-year-old pontiff of Sravanabelagola Jain Mutt, Swastisri Charukeerti Bhattaraka Swami, collapsed while taking a stroll in the mutt and was declared dead at the hospital. He was born as Ratnavarma and was the Dharmacharya of the Mutt, famous for the 57 feet tall statue of Bhagawan Bahubali. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed his grief at the "irreparable loss" to the state.

Traffic congestion expected in central Delhi ahead of AAP gathering

The Delhi Police has issued an advisory due to expected traffic congestion in central parts of the city ahead of Aam Aadmi Party's protest at Jantar Mantar. Traffic will be affected on Jantar Mantar Road, Tolstoy Road, Parliament Street, Janpath, Ashoka Road and Rajiv Chowk till 2pm. Commuters are advised to take alternate routes or avoid movement on this stretch.

The BMRCL has lit up the Whitefield metro station ahead of the inauguration of the new metro line in Bengaluru on March 25. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the KR Puram - Whitefield metro line, which will have seven trains with the time frequency of 10-12 minutes. It will take just 24 minutes to reach Whitefield from KR Puram, which otherwise takes about an hour. The line is of 13.2 kilometers and will have 12 metro stations.

Police have booked four persons after a 19-year-old girl alleged she was raped for 15 days in captivity in Saharanpur. She said she managed to escape and informed her family. The complaint alleges the accused took her to a hotel and recorded lewd videos, threatening to upload them online. Three others, allegedly the accused's brothers, also raped her. A case has been registered.

Mohali may lose out on hosting World Cup games

The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) may lose out on hosting the upcoming ICC Men?s Cricket World Cup games in October-November. The Mohali stadium, which has hosted four ODI World Cup games and three T20 World Cup games in the past, has not been included in the list of shortlisted venues. The PCA is yet to receive an official communication from the BCCI, while the official fixtures of the World Cup are yet to be out.

Police arrested three people for allegedly failing to pay the ?7 crore licence fee and submitting fake bank guarantees in Canara Bank. Two of the accused, Sanjay Sharma and Ravi Chandra Prakash, were arrested on March 7 and Monday respectively. The third accused, Ajay Kumar of Delhi, was arrested by the economic offences wing on Tuesday.

Mohali saw 10% spike in road accident deaths between 2021-22

Road accident fatalities in the district have increased 10% between 2021 and 2022, with 293 deaths reported in 2022. Road safety experts identified 80 blackspots, with the majority on national highways. Maximum fatalities occurred on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays, and between 6 pm and 9 pm. Officials were directed to deploy traffic enforcement and install speed limit boards to reduce fatalities. GMADA was also asked to appoint a nodal officer for road safety meetings.

Chhattisgarh assembly passes bill for protection of journalists

The Chhattisgarh Assembly passed the Chhattisgarh Protection of Media Persons Act, proposed by the ruling Congress before it was voted to power over four years ago, to protect journalists, freelancers, and photographers with at least a year of experience. The bill proposes to set up a committee to look into complaints of harassment and a penalty of Rs 25,000 against private persons responsible for violence or intimidation. Opposition BJP demanded further scrutiny of the bill.

2nd round of Assam-Meghalaya border talks to be held next month

Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma announced the reconstitution of regional committees for the second round of talks between Assam and Meghalaya over six border areas to take place next month. He emphasized the need to take all stakeholders into consideration and to maintain the safety of the people in the areas of difference. Opposition Congress MLA Charles Marngar called for a review of the agreement signed between the two states. Sangma maintained that the MoU was a milestone and that Assam had pulled out its teachers from Tarabari (4.69 sq km), now under Meghalaya's control.

The inspector was directed to go on leave and a report on his conduct is being submitted.

Police identify car involved in Kharar hit-and-run, register FIR

Two persons were run over by a car in Dau Majra village near Kharar on Monday night, killing one of them and injuring the other. The deceased was identified as Vikas Yadav, 30, and the injured as Rohit Kumar, 22. Police have registered an FIR against the unidentified driver of the car and are investigating.
