Seven tigers died last year in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, reveals RTI
According to the state wildlife department, a total of 18 deaths were recorded in the reserve throughout the five years
As many as seven tigers lost their lives in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district in the last year alone, officials said after a right to information (RTI) query was filed.
According to reports, the deaths were the highest in the last five years.
According to the state wildlife department, a total of 18 deaths were recorded in the reserve throughout the five years.
The state wildlife department disclosed the relevant information following an RTI query by activist Abhay Kolarkar.

According to the report, the reserves lost a tiger in 2018, three tigers in 2018 while four died in 2020.
In 2021, the death of three tigers was recorded, while 2022 saw seven tiger deaths.
Among the 18 deaths in the last five years, 13 tigers died due to natural causes, four deaths occurred due to poaching, and the cause of one death was electrocution.
The Tadoba tiger project is one of the best-managed wildlife sanctuaries that was recently conferred with the Conservation Assured Tiger Standards (CA|TS) international accreditation certificates.
This year, CA/TS selected six such tiger reserves across the country, including Tadoba.
Tadoba tiger reserve is one of the country’s oldest national parks, spread over 1,727 sq km area.
