Maharashtra bridge collapse: One dead, 15 injured as part of footbridge falls at Chandrapur railway station
Railways announced ex gratia of ₹1 lakh for those who were grievously injured in the accident and ₹50,000 to those who sustained light injuries.
At least one person died, while 15 others were injured after part of a foot over bridge at Balharshah railway station in Maharashtra's Chandrapur collapsed on Sunday. As per the latest information, those injured have been shifted to the civil hospital.

The incident happened around 5:10pm. The overbridge connected platform 1 and 2 of the station in Chandrapur, located approximately 150km from Nagpur.
“A part of pre-cast slab of the FOB (foot over bridge) at Balharshah railway station connecting platform 1 and 2 has fallen down at around 17.10 hrs,” said Shivaji Sutar, Central Railways CPRO.
A video shared by news agency ANI showed a hollow gap on the floor of the foot over bridge, while people were seen running around in panic.
Railways announced ex gratia of ₹1 lakh for those who were grievously injured in the accident and ₹50,000 to those who sustained light injuries. “Injured persons being given best medical treatment by shifting them to other hospitals for early recovery,” the railways spokesperson said.
There are no reports of casualties so far. Further investigation is underway.
