Pimpri: Pimpri police detained a 17-year-old boy on Wednesday after he was found carrying two country-made pistols valued at nearly 1 lakh, near the Pimpri Bridge. Police said the accused purchased firearms from a supplier from Umrati in Madhya Pradesh.

Police said they nabbed the accused at around 5:10pm near Shankar temple after getting prior information. They laid a trap and detained the juvenile. During the search, they recovered the two country-made pistols.

The juvenile told police he purchased the firearms from a certain Pappi Singh, a supplier from Umrati in Madhya Pradesh. After the interrogation, the juvenile was released with a warning notice.

Police have now launched a search for the supplier. They are also investigating for what purpose the pistols were bought.

An FIR has been filed at Pimpri police station under sections of 3(5) of the BNS and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
