PMPML diverts all bus routes from Bajirao road and Shivaji road to decongest traffic

In a bid to decongest the traffic from old city areas, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited on Wednesday announced that all buses except he Punyadasham small buses plying on Shivaji road and Bajirao road will be diverted to Jungli Maharaj road and Fergusson college road from July 28. As per PMPML officials, commuters complained of daily traffic congestion due to PMPML buses on two major roads- Shivaji road and Bajiroa road.

U.P. government schools: IIML to equip principals with new age skillset

IIM Lucknow inaugurated a Capacity Building Program for 32 principals of U.P. government secondary schools on Monday. The six-day programme will cover new education policy, leadership, inter-personal skills and other functional skills. The training is part of an MoU signed between the secondary education department, UP and IIM Lucknow and aims to train 2,000 school principals. Prof Archana Shukla, director, IIM Lucknow, and Anjana Goyal, director, SCERT (State Council of Education Research and Training, Uttar Pradesh) were present.

Start-Up Mela at AU attracts big crowd

AU's incubation centre organised a Start-Up Mela to provide a platform for start-ups to showcase their products and services. VC Prof Sangita Srivastava encouraged start-ups to develop their business and motivated students to initiate their own start-ups. More than 36 start-ups showcased their products and services, with a footfall of 4,000. The event was organised under the guidance of Prof NK Shukla, Prof SI Rizvi, and Prof AK Singhal.

Millets Mela at Lucknow’s Chatori Gali: Top brands to set up stalls to popularise coarse grain

Top food brands from the state will set up stalls at the first Eat Right Millets Mela, organised by the district administration on March 28-29. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak will inaugurate the event, which features mouthwatering dishes prepared by noted chefs from millets, competitions and activities for school children.

Five held for immoral trafficking, four girls rescued in Haryana

Kurukshetra police have arrested five people on charges of forcing girls into prostitution and rescued four girls. The accused were identified as Chandram, Rajiv Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Nitin Kumar and Mukhtiar Singh. They were arrested near Brahmasarovar and booked under relevant sections of the IPC. Chandram, Rajiv and Bharat Bhushan were sent to two-day police remand, while Nitin and Mukhtiar Singh were sent to judicial custody.

Depts that harm nature must pay for conservation initiatives: CM

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has suggested special parks for the state animal and bird of Uttar Pradesh, swamp deer and sarus crane, and that departments/agencies causing damage to the environment should engage in CSR activities for conservation. He also interacted with athletes who won medals at the 26th All India Forest Sports Competition, and said more than 100 crore trees had been planted in the state in the last 6 years. He urged for a large-scale plantation drive along newly developed water bodies during the upcoming Van Mahotsav.

Hema Malini opens 10-day workshop in Mathura

A ten-day sculpture workshop was inaugurated at the State Museum of Mathura by Hema Malini, MP, Mathura, in order to revive the tradition of sculpture art. The workshop is jointly organised by the State Museum and Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad and sculpture artists from different parts of the country have gathered. Statues of known Braj saints including Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Vallabhacharya, Meera Bai, Swami Haridas are being created. Hema Malini expressed her fondness for the rich treasure of art and sculpture at the museum.

Haryana government school lab assistant molests 15-yr-old girl, booked

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a school lab assistant in Fatehabad. The girl's father lodged a police complaint and a committee will investigate the matter. In Jhajjar, two weeks after a 14-year-old girl was abducted and raped by two bike-borne men, the police have failed to arrest the accused. The girl's family is demanding the arrest of the accused within the next 5 days.

An official spokesperson said it was informed in the meeting the HSVP’s non-EDC receipts were estimated to be around <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>14,719 crore in the 2023-24 financial year.

HSVP expects to earn 5k crore from auctions of residential, commercial properties

The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) is estimated to earn ?5,000 crore from auctions of residential and commercial properties in 2023-24. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave approval to construct multi-storeyed car parking and commercial complex and to allot ownership rights to 131 shopkeepers. He also directed that a separate dashboard be prepared to register all information of HSVP properties and to digitise the entire record.

In run-up to 2024, SP eyes strong booth-level presence

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has announced a list of in-charges for 47 constituencies and plans to form committees for every booth in all 80 LS constituencies of the state. SP will not ally with the Congress or the BSP, and only SP candidates will contest from the 32 seats for whom the in-charges were announced. The party now has district presidents in 38 districts, who will coordinate with the constituency in-charges of booth committees.

Intercity transport: 18 new buses to join Prayagraj fleet soon

UPSRTC's Prayagraj division has received 18 new BS6 standard buses, with 14 already running inter-city services. The corporation plans to run 8,000 buses by Mahakumbh-2025, with 2,000 of them to be provided by the government. These buses will provide convenience to passengers during the event.

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai is expected to lay the foundation stone for a ?744 crore lift irrigation project in Athani taluk of Belagavi on Tuesday. With the tender process to be completed in 11 days, Opposition parties have questioned the lack of days to submit the application and the urgency behind laying the foundation stone. BJP has yet to comment on the matter.

Air India starts Amritsar-Gatwick direct flight

Air India launched its direct flight from Amritsar to Gatwick in the UK, with Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurating the flight. The airline will operate 12 weekly flights from Ahmedabad, Goa, Kochi and Amritsar with a total of 49 weekly flights to London (Heathrow and Gatwick) and six flights to Birmingham. The new international connectivity is expected to work as a catalyst for the region's development. Air India's five-year transformation plan Vihaan.AI plans to enhance connectivity between India and global destinations.

From Sabarmati jail to Naini central jail: Atiq’s journey spans four states

Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed was escorted by a 45-member police team in 6 vehicles from Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat to Naini Central Prison in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, in 24 hours. He will be produced in court on Tuesday in a case related to the abduction of Umesh Pal, a witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case. The convoy stopped 8 times on the way and Atiq was anxious all through the journey.

Revised NCERT textbooks likely to be introduced from 2024-25

The Ministry of Education is aiming to introduce new NCERT textbooks in 22 languages from 2024-25, along with electronic versions and regular updates to encourage competency based learning. A national steering committee is developing frameworks for the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. Revised textbooks for up to class 2 are set to be released by the end of this month.

Gang of thieves busted, four held

Lucknow police arrested four members of a gang of thieves for stealing from locked houses. Police recovered valuables, jewellery, four-wheelers and other items from their possession. The accused were nabbed from Kukrail picnic spot and have stolen valuables from four houses in the Indira Nagar area. They have been sent to judicial custody.
