Tuesday's numbers show that India has now been clocking more than 300,000 daily Covid-19 cases for 13 days straight, with the health system crumbling under the weight of new coronavirus cases and hospitals continuing to report a shortage of ICU beds and medical oxygen.

India on Tuesday recorded 3,449 new Covid-19 deaths in the span of a single day, mounting the nationwide death toll to 222,408.

Between April 24 and May 2, India has received 17 consignments – comprising essential medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators, cylinders of medical oxygen, ventilators and BiPAP machines, bedside monitors, anti-viral drugs, rapid kits to detect Covid-19 virus, pulse oximeters, N95 masks and personal protective equipment among others — from at least 14 countries.
4,06,339 people were vaccinated across 12 states and union territories as on May 3.
