These were some of the things Delhi’s U-16 and U-19 players were taught at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Tuesday in a session with the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Anti-Corruption and Anti-Doping unit officials.

Embarrassed by the spot-fixing and doping scandals over the last two seasons, the BCCI has decided to get to the grassroots and organise workshops for all age-groups. “The kids were receptive. But many of them were surprised when we mentioned the ways they could be trapped by the bookies,” BCCI’s anti-corruption unit head, Ravi Sawani said.

“They are young and vulnerable, so it is necessary to teach them ways to stay out of trouble.”

“The most important thing was to tell them how to handle crisis.”

Dr Vece Paes and PS Chandran, both part of BCCI’s anti-doping unit, spoke on banned substances. They advised the youngsters to be careful while taking ayurvedic medicines, which can lead to positive tests.

Delhi paceman Pradeep Sangwan tested positive in a drug test conducted during the IPL.
