Chennai Super Kings needed 150 to win their fourth IPL title and on the back of an exceptional innings by Shane Watson, they were on course to go all the way. However, Jasprit Bumrah, who has been superb all season, bowled the perfect 19th over and then Lasith Malinga delivered a masterclass in the final over as Mumbai Indians edged past CSK by 1 run to spare and lifted the title - for the fourth time. Earlier, it was a vintage bowling performance by CSK and their efforts were led by Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Imran Tahir. The South African leggie, who has been Dhoni’s trump card right through, picked up two wickets to eclipse Kagiso Rabada and net the purple cap with 25 wickets to his name.

David Warner, who had a dream season, was the rightful owner of the orange cap as he finished the season with 692 runs in 12 matches.
