Australia Women vs England Women Commentary

11:37 AM IST Right then, the white-ball leg of the 2025 Women's Ashes is done and dusted and Australia Women have clean-swept all the ODI and T20I games. It is just the one-off Test match that remains and it is worth 4 points if one side wins. It will also be the first day-night Test to be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground and will begin on Thursday, 30 January at 3.30 am GMT but you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Australia Women will have the chance to win the multi-format series 16-0, something that hasn't happened since 2013 whereas England Women will be looking to end the tour on a positive note. Take care and cheers!
11:34 AM IST Australia Women skipper, Tahlia McGrath says that she really enjoyed this win given it is her home ground and the crowd loves to come in and support the team as well. Adds that it was a bit of a tricky wicket and the way Beth Mooney batted was exceptional and goes on to laud Georgia Voll and says that everyone did their part. Mentions that she is looking forward to the Day-Night Test at the MCG and reckons that the 4-day format will be a different challenge altoghether.
11:33 AM IST Heather Knight, the captain of England Women says that the opposition played well and the way Mooney played was brilliant. Reckons that the pitch was decent and kept a bit low but losing so many wickets at the top always makes it difficult. Adds that the Aussies bowled well and they are looking forward to the Test match at the MCG and will look to win. Mentions that they haven't been able to put on a good showing all-round so far and that's what they need to learn from the Aussies.
11:33 AM IST Beth Mooney is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her fine unbeaten knock of 94 off just 63 balls. Mooney says that she hit a few out of the middle of the bat and those partnerships, especially with Georgia Voll were crucial for her to get a big score. Adds that she was battling away for some form at the start of this series and fortunately it has come off for her and hopefully, there are a few more knocks left in her. On the added responsibility of wicket-keeping, she reckons that she is enjoying it but not that much and is fine to get back on the field rather than keep wickets. Informs that she tried to use the gaps and run hard and on getting a hundred in an Ashes Test match, she says that she doesn't think about it much.
11:32 AM IST The Presentation ceremony...
11:31 AM IST England Women conceded a few too many runs to begin with but their batting effort was nothing to write home about either. Sophia Dunkley tried to start aggressively but fell soon and then it was just a bit of a procession in the way they lost their wickets. Danni Wyatt-Hodge did a decent enough job before it was once again skipper Heather Knight who played a lone hand. Knight was the last wicket to fall as she made 40 with no one apart from Wyatt-Hodge even managing to get into double figures. In the end, England Women failed to breach the three-figure mark as well.
