Australia Women vs India Women Commentary

11:56 AM IST Right then, that is it from this entertaining contest, where India Women sealed the series and take a 4-2 lead on points into the ODI leg. The first game will be played on 24th January, Tuesday, at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. It will begin at 3.50 am GMT (9.20 am IST), and as you know, you can join us early for all the build-up to the match. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
11:55 AM IST Time to work hard and come back stronger - Sophie Molineux, the captain of  Australia Women, says that they thought they could have chased the target as it was a good wicket to bat, but she feels like they lost some wickets in wrong time. About Ellyse Perry, she says that she is an exceptional player and she wishes that she continue growing her appearances in the future. Ends up saying that they didn't quite get the result, but they will work hard and try to win the ODI series.
11:54 AM IST It was a complete team effort - Harmanpreet Kaur, the victorious skipper of India Women, says that it was a complete team effort and it means a lot to see everyone stepping up. Feels that every partnership was crucial and lauds the way Smriti and Jemimah batted. Kaur mentions that the plans with the ball were very simple and they were clear that it was about taking wickets against a side that bats so deep. Ends by thanking the fans who came to the ground and cheered for them
11:51 AM IST Time to hear from the captains now.
11:51 AM IST Women in Blue finish clinically - India were under pressure early with Renuka leaking runs in the first over, but the inclusion of Shreyanka Patil proved a masterstroke as she removed Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry to shift the momentum. Renuka bounced back with a wicket of her own, and from there India kept things tight despite a brief scare from Ashleigh Gardner. A stunning catch from Jemimah Rodrigues to dismiss Gardner and Harris' hit-wicket dismissal sealed the contest, with Patil and Charani sharing six wickets to wrap up a memorable win for the Women in Blue.
11:46 AM IST Mandhana and Jemimah lay the platform - Earlier in the game, India Women put up a competitive total but, given their flying start, would have wanted a few more. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a classy 82 off 55, adding 121 with Jemimah Rodrigues, who struck a half-century but found boundaries hard to come by. Richa Ghosh added a brisk cameo late on, though the hosts could not quite finish with a flourish. For Australia Women, Kim Garth and Sophie Molineux picked up a wicket each, while Annabel Sutherland impressed most with two scalps, including a superb final over that went for just two runs to rein things in.
