Pakistan Under-19 vs England Under-19 Commentary

3:50 PM IST What happened there? A complete lapse of concentration from Ali Raza, and that is a very disappointing end to this game. Raza at the batter's end tries to let the ball go to the keeper, but while doing so, he wanders outside of his crease. Thomas Rew collects the throw and quickly breaks the stumps and the replay shows that Raza never made it back.
3:49 PM IST Thomas Rew, the victorious skipper of England Under-19, mentions that at the halfway mark, his team felt they were slightly under par with their total, but the bowlers' performance in the second innings was outstanding, and it greatly pleased the team. He thanked and praised the groundsmen for their efforts in preparing the field despite the torrential rain, which made it possible to have a game. Thomas describes the wicket as good for cricket, although it did deteriorate slightly as the game progressed. The team's bowling plan was to stick to their stock line, target the stumps, and build consistent pressure. They backed this up with sharp fielding and took their chances when they came, holding onto tough catches. Thomas believes that this approach was key to bowling the opposition out. He acknowledges that the outfield was tricky for ground fielding due to the wobbly surface, but the team adapted well to the conditions and handled them smartly. Thomas credits the team's build-up through warm-up games, which gave them confidence and momentum. Overall, he says that he is pleased with the team's performance and feels they are in a good place. He is excited to carry the momentum of their first win forward into the rest of the tournament.
3:47 PM IST And with that, we wrap up proceedings from this encounter, where England Under-19 get their first win of the World Cup, but Pakistan Under-19 will have to wait a bit longer. Group C action will resume here at the Takashinga Cricket Club in Harare on 18th January, when England return to face co-hosts Zimbabwe U-19, while Pakistan will take on Scotland U-19 on Monday, 19th January. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7.30 am GMT, and as always, you can join us early for all the build-up ahead of both clashes. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
3:46 PM IST Farhan Yousaf, the captain of Pakistan Under-19, says that they did well in the first innings, but could not do well with the bat. Adds that the middle order did not fire, but that can happen in cricket. Says that he is happy with his knock but would have liked to be in a winning cause.
3:44 PM IST Caleb Falconer is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his excellent knock. He starts off by giving credit to his fellow batters for their support and acknowledges the challenging conditions on the field. He adopted a patient approach, waiting for opportunities to score and focusing on pushing the field and running hard between wickets. He also notes that the wicket was tricky, with variable bounce and low-keeping qualities, which made shot selection difficult. However, he used his slow start to her advantage, taking time to settle in and build a solid foundation before scoring more freely. He highlights the importance of her partnership with Ralphie Albert, who supported him and helped steady the innings through good communication and careful batting. Falconer also commends the bowlers and fielders for their excellent work, particularly in defending the total. Falconer is thrilled with the team's first win in the World Cup, describing it as an unbelievably good feeling. He also says that he is looking forward to carrying the momentum into the next game and has a simple plan for the day off, rest, recovery, and preparation for the next challenge.
