Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Giants Commentary

5:35 PM IST Right then, that’s a wrap on this game, where Bengaluru suffer their third consecutive defeat. Meanwhile, Gujarat finally break their losing streak, securing a much-needed win and hoping this marks a turning point in their campaign. Next up in the Women's T20 League is Match 13, a high-voltage showdown between two powerhouses where Delhi take on Mumbai. Expect nothing short of a blockbuster encounter as these two sides battle it out at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 28th February. The first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as always, we'll be here well in advance to bring you all the build-up, insights, and excitement leading into the game. Until then, take care and see you soon!
5:32 PM IST Ash Gardner, the skipper of Gujarat is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her contributions with both bat and ball. She says over the last couple of games, they did not bat the way they wanted to and credits the bowlers for bowling well in this game and talks about the positivity they showed. Mentions that they should've won the first game and defended 200 runs but is happy to have gotten back to winning ways. Talks about chasing and says it's kind of become a trend, but the wicket used for this game wasn't as green and challenging. Concludes that she looks forward to the Lucknow leg now, and it was pleasing to see they had wickets in hand, which makes the job easier.
5:24 PM IST It's time for the Presentation Ceremony ...
5:21 PM IST Phoebe Litchfield from Gujarat is down for a chat too. She says they came into this game with positivity and wanted to come out with a bang. Mentions that taking those 3 wickets in the Powerplay was what was happening to them in the past games but this time they werent on the receiving end and the bowlers bowled brillinatly. Adds that she and Ash Gardner spoke of keeping it positive and finding boundaries on the loose balls. Concludes that they needed a win and says that in the first game against Bengaluru they just needed to take a couple of chances that came their way, which could've changed the complexion of how things went for them.
5:19 PM IST Bengaluru skipper Smriti Mandhana reflected on her team's performance, stating that they failed to bat well in the Powerplay and misread the conditions, aiming for a total of 170-180 on a track that didn't support such aggression. She acknowledged that their last two matches were closely contested, but this loss will be particularly disappointing as the team underperformed in all three departments. Further emphasized the need for her team to strengthen their batting, bowling, and fielding and come back stronger. She did praise the partnership between Kanika Ahuja and Raghvi Bist but felt that more contributions were needed from the rest of the team.
5:11 PM IST Earlier in the game, Gujarat capitalized on the early conditions and some reckless shot selection from Bengaluru to put the home side on the back foot. Reeling at 25/3, Bengaluru found some stability through a crucial partnership between Raghvi Bist and Kanika Ahuja, but once that stand was broken, Gujarat tightened their grip and never let the game slip away. The visitors kept striking at regular intervals, ensuring Bengaluru never got the momentum they needed, eventually restricting them to just 125 runs. Deandra Dottin and Tanuja Kanwer were the standout performers with the ball, picking up two wickets each.
