Luke Pomersbach

Luke Pomersbach

Age 40AustraliaAUSTRALIA
Left Handed Batsman

Also known as “Pomers”, this big built Australian made an unusual international debut when he was called into Australia’s Twenty20 side in 2007 against New Zealand, replacing injured Brad Hodge. Co-incidentally, Luke Pomersbach was present at the venue as a mere spectator to the game when the call went out to him. With an ability to hit boundaries to all kinds of bowlers, he is considered to be a great asset to the teams he represents, Warriors and Western Australia.

Luke made his first-class debut for Western Australia in 2006. In the 2007-08 season, he was a regular in the Warriors batting-line up, scoring 743 Pura Cup runs at an average of 61.91. The same year, he made his international debut in a Twenty20 International against New Zealand. His form continued on the domestic circuit and he was signed by the Kings XI Punjab for the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008, where he scored 152 runs in five innings. He ended the season by bagging the “Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year” award.

In 2011, he was picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL season four. A couple of seasons later, he was auctioned off to the Kings XI Punjab.
