“To ensure builder mafia doesn’t dupe innocent people who end up buying these flats, we have demolished the properties and are also updating the action taken report on our website. People can check the status of the properties they want to buy,” said a senior MCD official.

Not only this, the central zone of the civic agency demolished seven properties where the owners had carried out illegal construction. Five properties were demolished in Sunlight Colony and two in South Extension Part I. To ensure the owners do not sell off these properties, a letter to the registrar is also being sent by them.

“In the last 10 days we have demolished more than 30 properties. We are also filing FIRs against the owners. To deter them from carrying out illegal construction, electricity and water disconnection is being recommended. Also, a letter to the registrar is being sent to ensure owners of these properties can’t sell them,” said a senior MCD official.

A special demolition and sealing drive will be carried out in the coming days in South Extension Part I.
