With 14 more cases reported on Friday, dengue cases in the Capital this season has reached 368. Four people have succumbed to the disease so far this season.
Though the number of cases reported this season is far less than what the city reported last year till date, the authorities concerned are taking all precautionary measures to check the spread of the disease that touches its peak during the months of October and November before finally dying with the onset of winters.
“These are the months when people should be more careful as after the rains stop, disease-causing mosquitoes find ideal conditions to breed. We have been getting information pamphlets on dengue distributed among children in schools in the city, and this is the best way to spread awareness among people,” said a senior official from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s health department.
The city also reported five cases of Japanese Encephalitis infection, a mosquito-borne disease that affects the brain and can lead to death, for the first time.
