19-year-old allegedly raped in Delhi

India brought in more stringent laws against sexual offenders after the fatal gang-rape of a student in Delhi in December 2012, but they have failed to stem the tide of violence against women across the country.

A 19-year-old woman has been allegedly raped by two persons, including a juvenile, in west Delhi’s Naraina.

The accused Kashif (20) and the victim were working as labourers at an under-construction building in Naraina.

Kashif and the juvenile took her to a place in Delhi Cantonment on Wednesday afternoon where they allegedly raped her, police said.

The woman approached the police following which both accused were nabbed.

Kashif was arrested on Thursday while the juvenile was apprehended a day ago, they added.

Amethi horror

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district, police said.

Police have lodged a case of rape.

SHO Rekha Singh said a named FIR has been lodged on complaint of the victim’s father against Anas of village Pure Murti.

The victim has been sent for medical examination and Musafirkhana circle officer Siddharth Tomar is investigating the case, she said
