Members of two more cooperative group housing societies (CGHS) in Dwarka carried out 'self draw of lots' for more than 200 flats on Sunday.
Done in the presence of hundreds of people, political leaders and the media, the lottery takes the number of the CGHS in Dwarka that have opted for self-draw to 21 since first such draw was held in January.
More then 6,000 flats from 58 societies have been lying vacant since 2005 following court cases and a CBI investigation. However, after investigations were completed and a charge sheet filed, the Delhi High Court had directed the allotment of flats in August 2007 to owners of these societies. As per the HC directive, the allotments are to be made within 90 days once all papers are submitted by the members/owners. Nothing has been done as yet.
