2 sisters held for running extortion racket
Two women were arrested from Indirapuram in Ghaziabad on Tuesday on charges of running an extortion racket with the help of local policemen and mediapersons, the police said.

According to the police, the arrested women, Priyanka Singh (20) and Geeta Singh (22), were sisters who they used to lure men. While the police managed to grab the sisters, two Uttar Pradesh police constables and two mediapersons managed to escape.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said the women lured men by making friends with them.
“Once the victim seemed to be comfortable with them, the women called up the mediapersons with camera and also policemen. They would then threaten the victim and demand money,” Lal said.
The police had received two such complaints.
However, Priyanka and Geeta, they were searching for a job. “We were called here by a cousin and he led us into the trap. We never ran any such gang. This was run by two policemen and two mediapersons whom we had met sometime ago in Ghaziabad,” one of the sisters said.
