In two separate incidents, two women committed "suicide" at their in-laws' residence in a span of 24 hours.
In the first incident, a 23-year-old pregnant woman died under mysterious circumstances at her in-laws' residence in Shakurpur Colony of northwest Delhi on Monday.
Aarti's family members alleged she was murdered for dowry.
Police, however, say that prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide.
The exact cause of death could be ascertained only after the postmortem examination report, said police.
Meanwhile, on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim's family, police have registered a case at the Subhash Place police station and arrested Aarti's husband, Chandrapal, a cab driver.
A senior police officer said the matter came to light after Aarti's in-laws telephoned her parents and informed them that she was critical and undergoing treatment at Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital.
"By the time her parents reached the hospital, Aarti had expired. In the complaint, they have alleged that there were injury marks on her body and they suspect foul play," said the senior officer, adding further investigations are on.
In another incident, a 22-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her in-laws' house in northeast Delhi's Karawal Nagar on Tuesday morning.
The incident was reported from Karawal Nagar, where the victim, identified as Ram Sakhi, lived with her husband and in-laws.
Police said the victim was depressed as even after four years of her marriage, she was not able to conceive.
Ram Sakhi's husband is a labourer, police said.
