A 20-year-old student was stabbed to death in southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area on early Monday, police said.
“The victim has been identified as Roshan Kumar Jha, who was returning home from a party early in the morning when some assailants attacked him. He informed us about the incident himself at 1:38 am,” said a senior Delhi Police officer.
A resident of Sangam Vihar’s D-block, Jha was a Class XI student of a local government school and used to do various part-time jobs.
“To supplement his family’s meagre earnings, Jha used to do part-time work as a waiter at parties. On Sunday, he had left his residence at 4.30 pm to work at a party. He had called his sister around 11 pm and told her that he would be back in two hours,” the officer said.
While on his way, Jha was waylaid at C-block and stabbed in the chest by a gang of unknown assailants, police said.
“We rushed to the spot to find him lying in the street and bleeding profusely from his chest. He was taken to the Trauma Centre at AIIMS, where he was declared brought dead, police said, adding that Jha’s father Narayan is a security guard at the adjoining Sainik Farms area.
“We have registered a case of murder at the Sangam Vihar police station,” the officer added.
