Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came in for a lot of flak from Delhi minister Arvinder Singh, who termed them as ‘B’ team of the BJP and alleged they would run away from the elections to benefit the Congress’ rival party.
Accusing Kejriwal of trying to benefit the BJP in the Delhi assembly polls, due in November, the urban development minister even claimed the AAP would withdraw from the electoral fray at an “appropriate time” as it will be “managed” by the BJP.
AAP is contesting all the 70 assembly seats in Delhi. It has also started announcing candidates, taking a lead over two main political parties -- the Congress and the BJP.
“This is democracy and every citizen has the right to contest elections. But I am sure they (AAP) will not contest. They will be managed by the BJP. It (AAP) is ‘B’ team of the BJP and will run away from the elections,” Singh said.
He said Delhiites would not be influenced by the “misinformation campaign” launched by the AAP. Kejriwal has been attacking chief minister Sheila Dikshit for the steep power tariff hike and accused her of siding with the private power discoms.
Manish Sisodia, AAP’s spokesperson, said: “BJP too has called us team ‘B’ of the Congress. We will turn this B plus B into A.
We have proved and exposed that both Congress and BJP are one team, that is team A in looting … one is milking the Delhi government and the other the civic bodies.” (with agency inputs)
